A mid-century stereo console combining a radio, record player, speakers and record storage inside one substantial piece of furniture. Console stereos became a centerpiece of American living rooms during the mid-20th century, when home electronics were designed to complement the furniture rather than sit on top of it. Lift-up compartments provided access to the turntable and storage, while the large cabinet concealed the speakers and electronics behind a streamlined wood exterior. 1960s–1970s
